Punk: The Chaos of Couture

I'm sorry I've been out for so many days, but my health problems wouldn't even let me sit on a chair( yes, I have actually spent the last 3 days in bed, sick, drinking tones of tea, taking tones of pills...). Thank God I am alright now!

While I was like a " heroin-chic", I thought that it would be the perfect moment to empathize with the " sick" characters from a movie that I consider as good as Oliver Stone's The Doors(1991) - namely Alex Cox's Sid and Nancy(1986). You can easily predict that it is about the lethal love of Sid Vicious( Sex Pistols) and Nancy Spungen.

After watching this impressive movie, I rememberd that a huge " Punk manifesto" is happening on Vogue: " Punk: The Chaos of Couture":

- Humans of New York: http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/from-the-archives-punk-in-vogue/#1

I have chosen some iconic images of the most iconic Punk figures:

Sid Vicious

Vivianne Westwood ( Punk's mother)

Jean Paul Gaultier

Vogue goes... Punk

What do you think of this eccentric, shocking and violent movement?
I see it as an act of great courage, especially for the '70s. The style is a little extreme for me, but there are a lot of " heroin-chic" models like Kate Moss or Irina Lazareanu who would definitely look fabulous in a Punk inspired outfit.
I will be back on this topic.

   Have a nice evening!
   See you soon.

A New Pair of Shoes a Day...

Lately, I've been having an enourmous problem(every morning!). You probably remember Carrie Bradshaw's quotation in Sex and the City " A closet full of clothes and nothing to wear." I bet this happened to you too at least once. I thought of several solutions (for example, to put some clothes in boxes and put them away so that I can rediscover their charm after some time) but I think the best solution remains the utopian one: A new pair of shoes a day, keeps being late and getting angry away! because the shoes make the difference.

I have mentioned Carrie Bradshaw; you probably know that she is one of my favourite characters. I found a lot of similarities between her and I (" I bought Vogue instead of dinner. I just felt it fed me more" -> it happens to me too; there are low budged- days in which I choose to buy Vogue or Elle instead of meal), I admire her writing style, with her rethorical questions and her reasearches, her way of being- a real woman, with everyday problems, a non-comformist lady who enjoys herself both in the highest societies and alone, writing and smoking in her apartment and an extreme shoe lover/ addict.

There are all those heroines that are Fashion collectors, but I feel that Carrie Bradshaw is the one that respects it the most, she understands its spirit and she is speaks Fashion fluently. For her the best cure for everything( heartbreak, deception, ...) is a new pair of shoes. When Manolo Blahnik stared designing shoes, he anticipated Carrie Brashaw.

The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.”- Carrie Bradshaw

Can you imagine how life would be with a pair of shoes a day? Vogue says that " March is Sandalized!"; unfortunatelly, in my city we are still wearing boots and some of us are delicately taking their heels for a walk. I will share my favourites, but you can find the whole collection on:

Divine, Dolce and Gabbana

Related to the last night event, here are some photos from the latest Dolce and Gabbana Fashion show. I think that that collection is just legendary... Where did such amazing inspiration come from!? There must have been something divine over there. I consider it extremely sophisticated, meticulous and glamorous; it's all about the gorgeous shoes, the golden accessories, the rubies and that amazing red. I think it is my favourite F/W 2013 collection and the best DG so far; this is genuine art.

   Enjoy the photos,
   Love, A.
