Floral Prints

Spring is already here, but Summer is on her way. Don't you feel it's time for the floral prints? Why not anticipate the warmest season by starting to wear floral printed clothing?

I've looked up some " floral outfits" in the Couture Spring 2013 Collections and these enchanted me the most:

Armani Prive

Chanel

Christian Dior

Maison Martin Margiela

Valentino

I found this amazing website( http://demodecouture.com/cotton/) on which I found a beautiful history of the printed fabrics. It is impressive: in India, the printed fabrics were developed in the 14th century and they were brought to Europe in the 17th century. The first prints were floral. In the Victorian Era, in England, nature( especially the plant kingdom) played a very important role in interior design and in Fashion design; because of the accelerated development of technology, people got so exhausted that they began to seek for every opportunity to relax and even to escape. William Morris's floral designs are the most famous:

I hope you enjoyed reading and viewing these photos.
   Have a lovely evening,

Roses for Today

Today I've finally managed to sketch some roses. I've never drawn roses before, I was a little scared that I would fail that I've postponed it ... until today :D

   Take a look:

   Have a rosy day!
   See you soon,

Monday

" Today is Monday... but nothing lasts forever."

We all " love" Mondays. I'm not sure if it is because of getting up early or because it will be a full schedule week... or because time passes so fast that we already find ourselves on Saturday night when we feel like it is just Wednesday afternoon.

Because almost everybody fears Monday, I've heard that there is a " substancial" variety of sayings related to this day, which is believed to influence or to " predict" the whole week; a lot of people try to be positive on Monday morning, some of them try to make something good for someone, a lot of them avoid spending or borrowing money and so on; but a lot of people choose another way to start a new week with energy and cheerfulness: they put on a lovely outfit which generates delight, joy, comfort and joviality.

These days I have a preference for those outfits that have a very masculine tone, because I strongly believe that they manage to highlight feminity very well. In other words, this contrast between feminine and masculine favors the sweet, delicate side of a person.

For today, I have found a perfect match between the two mentioned above, with an extraordinary classy tendency. Take a look:

She is Alexandra, a very nice colleague of mine. She is likes Kristen Stewart( whose style is also very much inspired by the classy masculine looks and who is addicted to the wayfarer sunglasses) and the iconic James Dean( whose outfits almost always contained the classy white shirt). Maybe these two influenced a little her style.
I love the fact that she combined a lot of accessories without creating a strained look: the hat, the wayfarer sunglasses, the bow( which is adoraaaableeeee!!!), the oxford shoes... Her face and hair are very well revealed by this combination.

   Thank you, Alexandra!
I'm sure you will all love her outfit.

Have a nice evening and a lovely week!
   See you soon,
   Kisses, A.

Purple Weekend

Good morning, everyone! Today I feel... purple!

The sun is up and it is pulling all of us out of our homes. You already know how much I love sunny days; the light and the warmth of these spring days really make me feel joyful, sociable and beautiful. I will try to express these feelings in my today's outfit. So here is what I'm gonna wear:

There are 3 pieces I'd like to point out: the purple fabric costume, which was my mother's but eventually she gave it to me :D, the golden necklace, which is very old and delicate, and the leather shoes, which are also vintage.
The whole outfit has a masculine touch( you have probably already figured out that the last night post about Coco Chanel inspired me for this outfit); I'm going to wear these with a pair of black pencil trousers and with a black thin shirt.

Please let me know what you think about my outfit.

I hope no Purple Rain will disturb us this weekend.

I wish you a full of fun and stylish weekend.
   See you soon,
   Love, A.

P.S. What are you going to wear today?

Have a Beautiful Weekend!

I'm so in love with this day, it's so warm and sunny... I think I'll spend the whole of it outdoors.
This morning I've been to the Mogoșoaia Palace. I recommend visiting it, it is breathtaking.
Here are two photos of me@ that marvellous place( the first photos of myself on this blog):

Have a wonderful day and a beautiful weekend!

Haircuts and Makeup

" Some of the worst mistakes of my life have been haircuts." - Jim Morrison

... Oh, well, not just for you, my friend! I always leave the hair salon in tears and not only because no hairdresser managed to fulfill my wishes, but also because I lose " points" in one of the most sensual domains: hair. And I am pretty sure that I am not the only one in that awful situation...
It took me several years to understand that not any haircut suits my oval shaped face... and now that I got the idea... it is quite hard to find a hair stylist who understands and agrees with my opinion. They usually have crazy, Science Fiction ideas that do not apply on my " conservative" perspective when it comes about hair.
The same happened with makeup. I am obsessed with Audrey Hepburn, geishas and felines. What do they have in common? The eyeliner! So, I use eyeliner for the cat-eye makeup, blush for highlighting my cheeks and nude or red- burgundy lipstick ( it depends on the event). When I go to school I barely use any makeup( just blush) because I am really aware of the ageing process that all products bring, no matter which brand they belong to. I usually wear a ponytail or a ballerina bun... or I just leave it the way it wants to " hang out"; my only problem/ luck is that my hair never looks twice the same.
I found this link very useful in case we need some piece of advice when it comes about hairstyle and makeup according to our face shape ... they also tell us what sunglasses should we wear :
